Building a SEM Framework and Culture: Charting the Student Life Cycle
12:30 - 1:15
Private post-secondary institutions are a single-source funded operations relying solely on tuition to keep the institution functioning. Student enrolment, retention, and progression are keys not only as measures of academic quality but instrumental in the financial viability of these institutions. Demographic changes, including declines in high school aged graduates in Canada, intense competition for students further exasperated by the global pandemic, and increasing student demand in some program areas continue to impact institutional approaches to marketing and enrolment management. This session will detail the processes, challenges, and to-date outcomes of our SEM plan that positions the student life cycle as its focus. The presenters will detail critical stages and milestones in designing and developing the SEM plan before speaking to the five goals and the resulting strategies and tactics that are being implemented across the institution. The session concludes with key takeaways for those embarking on this journey.
