Vice President Enrolment Management, Indigenous and Student Affairs
As a proven leader in the Ontario college system for over ten years, Shawn Chorney has a personal passion for lifelong learning and Indigenous education. He is driven to develop innovative and responsive solutions to support student achievement and success. Chorney also believes that community citizenship is good for business, which has led to founding a long list of “firsts” in the postsecondary sector, including a comprehensive and responsive hybrid student services model, and the Nipissing Poverty Reduction through Education program (NPREP), delivered in partnership with the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) that is aimed at bridging social assistance and postsecondary education for skills development and permanent employment linked to regional labour needs. He believes that all organizations can maximize their potential when they align themselves with their communities, industries and stakeholder groups. He is honoured to have the occasion to volunteer with the Nipissing Parry Sound Business Centre as president, Team Nunavut 2015 alumnus and member of the organizing team for northern Ontario 2017 tour Governor General’s Leadership Conference, co-chair of North Bay Downtown Inc. and for the United Way of Nipissing-Sudbury. Chorney holds an undergraduate degree from Laurentian University and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
