Management Consultant, Making Your Mark and Professor (Ret.)
Don was a professor at Durham College for 30 years, and his work in the area of student retention includes acting as the founding chair of the Academic Council. Don was a member of the Ontario Colleges’ Committee on Retention. He has been an invited speaker to the National Conference on Student Recruitment, Marketing and Retention from 2000-2017. His journey has been a 40+ year journey of a faculty member’s perspective on “Improving the Student Experience”. Throughout that journey from Durham College, to college seminars and conferences from Jamaica to Alaska, Newfoundland to San Diego, and webinars from the U.A.E. to N.Z., Don’s #1 insight is how to build strengths, high-performance learning skills, and most importantly, confidence in our students. As important are: creating a positive career/program culture in the pursuit of a career, which needs to be done within a faculty team and through high-impact experiences from Day 1 to graduation.
